Interview with Hmawbi Branch Manager for Best Branches in PAR Reduction (September 2024)

May Thu Win, Branch Manager, Hmawbi

Q: What are your thoughts on Hmawbi Branch being recognized as the branch with the highest PAR reduction for September?

A: I believe it is due to the hard work of the FO/IFOs who followed the instructions set by the BM, and their efforts made a significant difference.

Q: As a branch manager, what actions did you take to achieve PAR reduction, and what did the relevant staff do to contribute to this significant reduction?

A: At Hmawbi Branch, we frequently encountered fraud, and most of the staff were new. We started by visiting each client's home in the village to build relationships. Since I arrived in June 2024, we have been working hard to rebuild trust and rapport with our clients, which had been damaged due to incidents like negative publicity from photos and comments that affected the company's image. We had to slowly regain the clients' trust after losing it, especially when staff felt discouraged. Our primary focus was not just on interventions but also on planning to increase cash flow and income for the branch. Many overdue clients had already undergone recovery interventions, and the staff hadn’t been able to reach them for quite some time due to ongoing issues. We devised a weekly plan every Saturday for the staff to collect payments on time from Monday to Friday and locate overdue clients. Our team of 8 FO/IFOs, along with myself as BM, conducted searches and follow-ups for overdue clients every week. This consistent effort gradually reduced the overdue days in the area through partial payments and coordinated plans involving payments for 1, 2, or 4 months. As a result, the clients we managed to coordinate with returned to the normal client list over the past three months, leading to a reduction in PAR.

Q: In your opinion, what are the key factors for reducing PAR, and how should it be approached?

A: The key is to have a well-defined and precise plan that can be implemented effectively. In Hmawbi's case, since we cannot control the clients directly, we operate under their control. Therefore, instead of assigning KPI targets provided by Hana Wide to the FOs, we set realistic targets based on the branch's actual situation to help them achieve better outcomes.
